Home Movies Comix: 10 years later

The ending of Home Movies had me by the throat, and one of the reasons is that everything pointed to McGuirk and Paula settling down together. No lovely-dovey stuff, but hey man, one day he's inviting himself over just to fix her kitchen, then the next day they're sleeping on the same bed since Paula is too jaded and her kids like Coach enough. Kinda unhealthy, but they remind me of those typical mexican marriages with a fat buchón husband who calls his slovenly wife "mi chula". So maybe McGuirk high fives himself for being a family man now and takes Paula out to tacos al pastor every time his paycheck arrives.

That, and it got me thinking about of grown-up Josie bonding with him at the absence of her brother. McGurik was a jerk in the show, but he prided himself on being a godawful role model to Brendon and sometimes forcibly intervened in his life (especially when da real father was around), so he'd probably be a lot mellower with that kid's sister he's known since she was a baby. Josie might call him "Coach" out of habit... and because McGuirk's a chicken who scolds her for giving him the "Dad" treatment, kind of like Brad Armstrong from Lisa RPG. Sorry for drawing parallels, mang.
