BOXEADORAS, LUCHADORAS Y OTRAS COSAS

The BOXING GORLS belong to the Punch-Out!! universe. This is their original conception, but they're pretty versatile and can work on their own or alongside my other original characters. However, I enjoy playing up their dynamics with the canon cast since they're really fun, and a foil for them (Such as Rory to Aran) can open to interesting dynamics.

I got into Punch-Out back when I was scrolling through youtube and found a Wii gameplay, and it subsequently developed into an interest for combat sports. Weirdly enough, if it wasn't for Punch-Out, I probably wouldn't have gotten into judo in real life... so I thank this game for my newfound love for exercising!

★ Characters ★

Alice Pelkuri

Aliases: "Alicia" by family, "Lis" by friends, "Moomin" by Von Kaiser

Style: Out-fighter

From: Helsinki, Finland

Age: 18/Early twenties

Height, weight and reach: 183 cm/6'0" | 62 kg/138 lbs | 185 cm/73"

Total fights: 7 (2 victories by decision, 5 losses)

Fun fact: Since her mom is Argentinian, her tango is much, much better than her boxing.

"After spending months on programming the perfect artificial coach, Alice had completely neglected the physical training itself. It's a (painful) work in progress, as her only remarkable qualities are her height and intelligence."

She's based off one of Punch-Out's Arm wrestling rival, Alice & Ape III, but instead revamped into a lanky finnish boxer-mechanic (formerly belgian until I couldn't think of many stereotypes).

Born in Helsinki, highschooled in Buenos Aires, newcomer to America. Despite having a knack for machines, Alice decided to go down the sporty path simply because she likes it, even without being the most fit for it. As a result, she's after a Bachelor's degree in physical education and sports, currently undergoing her social services that include getting punched in the face and fetching coffee for the WVBA highter ups.

Alice has a type for american boys with the slightest bit of attitude, and got her latest patent stolen thanks to an incompetent attorney and her faith on people. Her baritone voice and nerdy looks may make her seem composed, but she has some outbursts of cynicism when she's fed up with everyone else. She only swears in finnish and spanish: spinnish.

Relationships: As a child she considered her robo-coach, Ape, the only friend she had, but she's learned to step out her social bubble as she grew older. Even now though, Ape is frighteningly wise for a machine and only kind to his creator.

Since she entered to the WVBA, Alice developed an unrequired crush on Disco Kid. Alas, he's not into ladies at all. Her only true friends are Rory, whom she treats as a troubled little sister, and Little Mac, who's secretly into tall girls with glasses. She also went back and forth getting boxig advice from Von Kaiser and Glass Joe (the two Minor Circuit licensed teachers) upon starting out, but it was mainly because Ape was still in testing at the time. Alice doesn't have the heart to tell the "old men" that their methods might be a little outdated.

As for her degree, Super Macho Man and Arm Candy (heads of male and female divisions) sometimes snatch her up for free engineering and secretary work. While she knows that experience doesn't pay bills, Alice's too much of a square to say "no" to authority.

Likes: Mechanical engineering, walks in the forest, skimpy clothes.

Dislikes: Turros, strapless dresses, unwashed people in the sauna.

Karina "Arm Candy" Larson

Aliases: "Karirin" by Subaru (way, way back), "Candy" by most, several blonde epithets behind her back

Style: Slugger

From: Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Age: 29/Mid thirties

Height, weight and reach: 198 cm/6'5" | 82 kg/182 lbs | 198 cm/78"

Total fights: 25 (20 KOs, 4 TKOs, 1 loss)

Fun fact: Plans on dying at 50 by crashing at high speed on her AMC Matador.

"As the name suggests, Arm Candy used to be a well-known ring girl in the WVBA, until something within her snapped. She would manage to reach World Circuit in just a matter of three years, sacrificing all her positive reputation to be the headcase that she is nowadays."

Yet again, taking an NPC from the Arm Wrestling game and turning her into Vonda Ward with Jamie Lee Curtis' head, plus Gloria Trevi's... eccentricity.

Candy's an ex-convict, ex-ring girl with an immense unprecedented strength and conditioning for boxing, even though her technique could use some work. As a jack of all trades, she's not only an athlete, but a chairwoman aiming to make the WVBA women's division the best pugilistic experience in history. She is convinced that the world is a tough place, and therefore, you must be even tougher... with class, of course. This is no Fight Club.

Unlike most would think, Karina isn't a sore loser, but rather a sore winner. Few are match for a giantess chock full of jealousy of all those olympic athletes way out of her league. Her hobbies include crippling people, gambling, witness intimiation, smoking three packs a day, and the good ol' 80's city life.

Relationships: Karina's famously disliked for being a tyrant, but the person she mostly gets along with is Super Macho Man, mostly due to their matching elitist attitude and partially because they both work shoulder-to-shoulder with the shady Mr. Dream, CEO of the WVBA. Macho and Candy sometimes pay for the expenses of the other, yet compete for the approval of their boss.

She had a dull fling with Aran Ryan that left the poor lad messed up before he dumped her. Some time later, Subaru and her entered a more meaningful relationship, but ultimately broke it off. Karina still yearns to reconnect with her through "tough love".

Despite her malice, Karina is protective about any young girl entering the association due to the treatment she got in her younger years, inspiring her stagename. She's also very prideful of the athletes in her league to the point of pampering them with trips, fancy dinners, free gym memberships... in exchange of risking their lives in the ring.

Likes: Seinfield, Jane Fonda, stocky short people.

Dislikes: Kayfabe, heavy metal, big mouthed brats.

Subaru Kandori

Aliases: "Sue" by Karina, "Kandori Sensei" by students

Style: Swarmer

From Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan

Age: 32/Late thirties

Height, weight and reach: 178 cm/5'10" | 75 kg/165 lbs | 178 cm/70"

Total fights: 29 (28 KOs, 1 victory by decision )

Fun fact: Her favorite people ever are Sakana-kun and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"Once a judoka and now the champion of the World Circuit, Kandori's mellow nature is off-putting to a few, and relieving to many. Though it's well known that she has no preference when it comes to size or sex: every oponent is a step closer to becoming Japan's greatest athlete."

I'm particularly fond of masculine ladies, so I dragged a heavy inspiration from Shinobu Kandori, a very cool japanese wrestler.

Coming from a lineage of champions, Subaru spent her early years devoted to training. Little after becoming an olympic judo athlete, an accident put an end to her career and caused a fall out in her life. Still sour, she became a coach overseas until she discovered her new passion: boxing.

Although that molded her into the optimistic person that she is today, her coaching is a complete nightmare, and no weakling comes out alive from her training. Martial arts, alongside the business behind the scenes, is a serious matter to her, so she'll turn down any unchallenging exhibition fight or crappy international deals. Being your own manager has it's perks, like simultaneously holding titles in several other international associations.

Relationships: Generally, Subaru isn't concerned about her solitude thanks to her near-obsession with sports and self-improvement. She avoids fighting Karina as to not let any personal beef intervene with her job. However, Subaru has a tender spot for her off the ring, as she feels guilty for the way she's turned out. Subaru still disapproves of Karina's unsportsmanlike mindset and instead believes combat sports must be an act of teamwork, not dominance, regardless of their similar ruthless methods.

Besides that, she has no issues with anyone past tansient distrust from the WVBA athletes. Despite being aware of its corruption and avoiding a permanent contract, Subaru sees it as the place where her love for boxing was born, where she had her first long term relationship, and an interesting challenge on top of her olympic aspirations.

Subaru's very detached from people to the point of being unknowingly insensitive, but she's always there to give the younger fellas pep talk and training during her spare time. Although kind at heart, she doesn't like to pamper her students or let them waste their time frolicking about. Anyone who isn't putting mind and body on their work is out.

Likes: Ne waza, accounting, fishing.

Dislikes: Basketball, unpunctuality, using microsoft Excel.

Rory Ryan

Aliases: "Pup" by Aran Ryan, "Pony" by the rest of her family ('cause she used to have a pot belly as a baby), "Fosforito" as her luchadora persona, "Enrica" as an inside joke

Style: Swarmer

From: Dublin, Ireland

Age: 10/16/Early twenties

Height, weight and reach: 160 cm/5'3" | 56 kg/125lbs | 157 cm/62"

Total fights: 10 (5 KOs, 2 victories by decision, 3 losses)

Fun fact: She grows bangs because of her unibrow.

"Succumbing to the mainstream competitiveness, Rory chose to box despite having practiced collar and elbow back in her homeland. That's why her fights are prone to irish leglocks and uncalled kicks to the face, if she's in a particularly bad mood."

The first girl I came up with thanks to an askblog I started out in 2021 (only that she's a wee lass in that version before I concieved her as an action girl), so she's the earliest developed.

Spending all day with Father Jack Hackett for a mother has turned her into an overachieving bully, having gone from collar and elbow, kickboxing and volleyball to the nearly criminal boxing of the WVBA, often inadvertedly adding them to her current style-- plus all that showy lucha libre she sees on TV behind her mom's back.

Relationships: Despite being withdrawn, Rory's a brusque girl with a tendency to lash out on docile people like Alice or Little Mac; a side effect of being surrounded by much stronger people throughout her life and feeling ashamed of being a wee girl. Once she's over her Napoleon complex, she's just a weird quiet friend.

Her older brother doesn't take her boxing ambitions seriously given his own detachment from sportmanship, so he encourages her to cheat and often exploits her recklessness for his own schemes. Although he still cares for her, Rory feels like he's constantly overshadowing her, only prompting her to be more competitive. She does get along well with Aran's friends who happened to watch over her when she was little, like Soda Popinski.

Though she's much more romantically reserved than Alice, she's had her history of fleeting crushes, mainly consisting of luchadores and toreadores. Her favorite boxer is Masked Muscle just because he can get away with spitting poison at people's faces. And much like her brother, she's terrified of her mother.

Likes: Metal Gear Solid, hunks in masks, horror.

Dislikes: Flamboyance, crying in public, waking up early.
